It was in 1999 when my father bought me the first 100MHz Pentium desktop; I used to open the case and stay on the floor observing the hardware inside with curiosity for hours. During the years in architecture schools and my working period afterward, architectural visualization is among my most fascinating matters. It is a field in which I can pursue both my interest in computer science since childhood and my joy of making things look good.
The foundation in architecture allows me to comprehend the architects' intentions through their drawings; to select the furniture that would go well with the design; to see how bright or dark the light–shadow should be. The neatness of Japanese architecture, the intuitiveness of Finnish design, and the vibrancy of his tropical hometown are the pursuits in my visualizations.
Unlike high-end marketing materials in the commercial context, these illustrations, as part of the in-house architectural design process, were experiment-oriented.
The balance between a fast-paced workflow and a good enough result for the concept-developing and problem-solving was more critical than artistic visual excellence.
In this section, all the images were extracted from the projects of which I was in charge, between 2017 and 2018, at Voima Graphics. Art direction: Ville Riikonen.
My role in these selected illustrations included camera work, visual styling, modelling in part, lighting, material, rendering, and post-production. Much appreciation to my ex-colleagues whose constructive comments extensively helped develop these works further.
